Winning Issue » AIR TRAVEL

In 2019 our domestic airlines served about 811 million passengers. But increasingly it seems busy airports and airline policies have left many passengers unhappy with their flying experience. In 2019 the number of passenger complaints filed with the Dept. of Transportation reached 15,332. These complaints include overbooking flights and causing customers to lose their flights or be involuntarily taken off airplanes, flight delays and cancellations, lost baggage, exorbitant checked bag and change fees, frequent IT meltdowns and airline consolidation are but some of the things that frustrate and anger air travelers. Complaints from disabled passengers and those who feel they were discriminated against are also on the rise. Advocates say most of these problems result from airlines prioritizing profits over passenger welfare and service. They claim plans to reduce the size of seats will only increase passenger discomfort and dissatisfaction.
