In addition to the threats malaria and tuberculosis pose to global health, the World Health Organization has identified 17 neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) which take the lives of nearly 540,000 people each year. About 2 billion people, almost one-third of the world



Options


  • I oppose reforming current neglected tropical disease policy and wish to donate resources to the campaign committee of Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA).
  • I support a broad range of activities toward finding cost-effective treatment for, and eliminating, neglected tropical diseases by:

    1.) Expanding USAID’s Neglected Tropical Diseases Program to increase school-based programs, provide treatment packages to those in need and continue developing new ways to accelerate progress in NTD elimination.

    2.) Conducting immediate research and development activities to combat all neglected tropical diseases.

    3.) Gathering robust epidemiological data to determine who is at risk of developing these diseases and what is the appropriate treatment frequency for them.

    And wish to donate resources to the campaign committee of Rep. Christopher H. Smith (NJ) and/or an advocate group currently working with this issue.

Trustee Candidates

If elected as a trustee, the campaign committee of Rep. Christopher H. Smith (NJ) will be unconditionally awarded the funds pledged to this issue along with a letter requesting him to favorably consider reintroducing H.R.3460 - End Neglected Tropical Diseases Act.

If elected as a trustee, Global Health Council will be awarded the funds pledged to this issue along with a letter requesting these funds be used to advocate to eliminate neglected tropical diseases.
