Industrialized factory Farms, sometimes referred to as concentrated or confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs), are farms on which large numbers of livestock are raised indoors in conditions designed to maximize production at minimal cost. Pigs, chickens and cows are often housed in close confinement where their movements are severely inhibited. Animals are kept in overcrowded cages, crates or pens without enough space to turn around or lie down comfortably. Egg-laying hens are kept in small cages, chickens and pigs are kept in packed sheds, and cows are kept on crowded, filthy feedlots. There are no federal laws protecting the welfare of animals on farms. Proposed Legislation: Reintroduction of S.2332 - Farm System Reform Act of 2021 Prospective Sponsor: Sen. Cory Booker (NJ) I oppose reforming current farm animal confinement policy, and wish to donate resources to the campaign committee of Leader Charles Schumer (NY). Senate Legislation: If elected as a trustee, the campaign committee of Leader Charles Schumer (NY) will be unconditionally awarded the funds pledged to this issue along with a letter requesting him to favorably consider blocking legislation relating to farm animal confinement policy. House Legislation: If elected as a trustee, the campaign committee of Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA) will be unconditionally awarded the funds pledged to this issue along with a letter requesting her to favorably consider blocking farm animal confinement policy. If elected as a trustee, U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance will be awarded the funds pledged to this issue along with a letter requesting these funds be used to resist limiting factory farming operations. I support: 1.) Halting new construction of large factory farms. 2.) Prohibiting farms above a certain size from expanding. 3.) Establishing a $100 billion fund over 10 years to buy out existing factory farms. 4.) Restoring mandatory country-of-origin labeling requirements. And wish to donate resources to the campaign committee of Sen. Cory Booker (NJ) and/or to an advocate group currently working with this issue. If elected as a trustee, the campaign committee of Sen. Cory Booker (NJ) will be unconditionally awarded the funds pledged to this issue along with a letter requesting him to favorably consider either reintroducing S.2332 - Farm System Reform Act of 2021, or a similar version thereof. If elected as a trustee, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals will be awarded the funds pledged to this issue along with a letter requesting these funds be used to advocate for decreasing or eliminating factory farms.
